The Abigail Shirt Dress Cobalt Blue

I was excited when i found this dress. canadian company, 100% cotton. Loved the style. However, once I recieved it, a HUGE disappointment. As another reviewer noted, the sizing is off. I ordered an XL and it is too tight across the bust.

The fabric: Yes this is 100% cotton but this poplin is wimpy and limp and doesnt have the body and crispness a shirt dress needs ( there are much higher quality poplins out there) . One thing I noted is the hem is so tiny: just a quarter inch turn on the double. A dress like this needs a substantial hem to give the garment body and drape. just that one fix alone would make this dress so much better. the tiny hem is obviously about cost saving and it shows in the way this dress hangs. In my opinion, and as a woman on the taller side, the proportions of this dress are off and it would be o much more elegant if it had been a few inches longer (and give the wearer the option of hemming if needed). The waist tie is also skimpy. also should have been wider and perhaps some interfacing cut on the bias to give some more body. its almost like an afterthought its so insubstantial.

I didnt end up being able to wear the dress (and i wouldnt have because of its poor quality) and it cant be returned so its on a hanger in my closet , with its tags, as a reminder of how much money i wasted. Such a disappointment.

Needless to say I wont be ordering from this company again. Such a shame. I love to support a canadian company that deserves it.
